they have to be part of the government first,if they participate what guarantees they will that they will be involved in the new post Assad /Baath party, name a Christian minister for me in Syria. Look at Palestine , how many Christians Palestinians defended the cause and died for it , today in Palestine they are not allowed to have a voice .It is funny in countries like Syria and Egypt that Christians have to join the obligatory military service and vote ,but they can’t have a representative in parliament , it is bit a hypocrite request!!!!

    2. Stop with the name calling. Pesident Assad is good to both Muslims and Christians. And this is evident in the mutual respect of his countrymen. Syria is not divided like lebanon when it comes to religion. However President Assad is against extremism. And with good reason. Syria was starting o prosper, but the backward folk want to send us 10 years back. God Bless Bashar, to quote Michael Moore “we live in ficticouse timeas”….P.S President Assad is the ONLY middle eastern leader that supports the plight of the palestinian people. By not bowing to american pressure and staying true to the palestinian plight, he is quite the oppositte of what you call him. He is the Lion of damascus, and may God bless him and his family.

        1. Such an honourable response. You obviously dont like to hear it “as it is” from a Syrian. You only want to hear what supports your own ideology. Otherwise you would not have responded so rudely. Ya Abooshom alak.

Listen to you President Assad is the only one that supports the Palestinians people. I guess you forgot his father used to preach the same thing while slaughtering them in Lebanon. I have to admit he uses their plight for his own good. Let me see President Assad even own tribe from the Alwaiites are poor while he and his cousins are getting filthy rich. Even the tribe got together with Muslims Sunnis in protesting against him. You’re insulting the descent people of Syria when you say he’s a good President. Would people jump into death like their doing if their well beings is taking care of? The people of Daara are poor due to their emigrations from a drought farm area where he didn’t lift a finger to help them. Why don’t read history and news sometimes to educate yourself about what’s going on in the Middle East first before you start saying such stupid things. You remind of a jackass Libnan1 one who blindly supports Aoun while Aoun most likely has not done a damn thing for him or his followers.

ba3den, i would not call killing pple, kidnapping them in the middle of the night and putting them in prisons without allowing them access to their family for many years, without a flinch is something ‘good’.

It would be a good solidarity move on both parties to stand up to the dentist.Once all the people of Syria come together, you must win over the military then he is over for good. The sooner he is removed from power and all the Iranians ejected you can make peace with yourselves and then all your neighbors.A real peace.Im 41 now and dont even live there, and I know only of this murderous family, just like Kdaffy and the rest of these murderous dictators, they have always been there. You dont have to sacrifice your heritage and religion to have freedom, nobody says be like the US.But you can find your own democratic way of life in a happy medium that allows all your citizens equal rights. This crap with subjugating women, and each other..its so 7th century..It’s a beautiful world out there and you have a place in it,dont let the wrong guy take control again.I wake up everyday hoping that your free today. My wish is your wish, now make it come true.

It is bit a hypocrisy for the Syrian revolution to use Jesus and Christianity to involve the Christian , see my comment below , first the Christians were the cause of the semi secular Syria as they created the Baath party ,just to be abused later on by the leaders . Christians population in Syria prior to Naser unification plan with Syria exceeded 1,2 millions and went down drastically after that because of many reasons ,one of them confiscating all their lands and businesses in the name of Socialism , with Nasser Syria industry suffered drastically as many of them immigrated to western country and other chose Lebanon , and Camille Chamoun was very smart to receive them ,that;s why Lebanon industry picked up also drastically with the flood of Syrian industrialist in 1955 who opened many businesses in Lebanon, many wealthy Syrian Christian families settled in Lebanon Family . Back to the subject ,Christians all over the middle east except Lebanon for now are marginalized and have no voice , they can die in Iraq and Syria and Egypt defending the country in the army but they can’t be in government.
Asking them to Follow Jesus is bit hypocrisy ,using christianity when it suits the cause it is hypocrisy, Islam can’t be comapred to Christianity, Christianity allowed Obama , a moslem , to become the president of the most powerful country on the face of the earth , while in the mean we still here the Mosque calling Christians “Koffar from Saudi Wahhabist ” to the Mullah in Iran , the Koran is contradictory when it comes to Christian ,one page praise them another call them Moushrikin , other then taking the Korran out politics as Antoun saade wanted and Michel Aflak ,there will be no participation especially for a little minority that overtime I doubt if any christian number will be significant in 50 years from now. leave the Christian alone and let thm pray for you on Good Friday so may god bring peace and justice to Syria and keep the Christians safe from the people who want to harm them and they are many!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Thats becuase us Syrian Christians support President Bashar Al Assad. We will not use our holy day to support these False uprisings which promise democracy, but Im sure there is something more sinister at play. Good Friday is our Holy Day, as Christians we will be exactly where we belong – In Church. Praying for Peace, Love and Remembering our dear Lords Sacrifice. People of Syria, We have enjoyes freedom of religion, and tolerance like no other middle eastern country. Why would we want to change that?

      jacki,

i know very well that the situation of the christians in syria is very critical.
from the beginning, they have been a little priviledged and left alone by the syrian regime to do their business and even prosper in some cases but in return they were asked cleverly not to interfere in the political system in any ways thus conveniently turning a blind eye on the regime’s corruption and abuses.

nevertheless, it is not wise nor prudent at the present time to take sides and openly show support for one side or another while the events in syria are still unfolding.

what if the uprising you are witnessing in your country turned out to be not so false as you mentioned it and the revolutionaries that seem to gain more power every day took over the country, what would you do then???

      1. they are not false, however they are being dne under the guise of democracy! we all now as arabs that there can never be such a thing in the middle east. with the state of palestine as it is, the arab people can never turn a blind eye to their cause, and President Basharhas been at the forefront of their cause. At the expense of isolating himself from the international community. He NEVER sold out, unlike lebanon, SA, Egypt, Jordan. Christian syrians feel very strongly for our muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine. Other countries in the middle east are not so phased. We have the largest total in take of iraqi refugees….el sha-eb el arabeh when??? SYRIA is for muslim and christian – we just dont bring it into politics – Thank Goodness!

I can’t wait to see Aoun as the new Amir or Sultan on both Syria and Lebanon. With the help of HA, this should be easily accomplished.

    1. Goodday to you Libnan, It amazed me how you hatred of Geagea, Gemayel and the other leaders of march 14 create in your way of thinking illogical reasoning. I only hope your joking!. The patriach is preaching by example when he bring together around a table opposite view. He is trying to build bridge. In all of your post you condemned anyone who believe in redemption and reconciliation.

It is ok to think differently with strong argument to hold your case. Let me challenge you if I may; can you see one positive thing about Geagea discourse. If not my hope of reaching for your christian values will vanish…

      Fess honne!

        marc,
You know and I know where we both stand. We are both on the same track but on different sides. I strongly support the inter Christian dialog and I like to see a wider dialog between all Lebanese.
I don’t hate neither Geagea nor Gemayel, actually my best friend is from Geagea family and my cousin is married to the Geagea family. I get in these arguments with them all the time, at the same time we still salute over kas Arak.

I do support Aoun view because of the followings (I reflected these views in my previous posts):

        1. Aoun saw what happened during the past civil war, where we aligned ourselves with the parties that their interest was to destroy Lebanon.
        2. Aoun saw that Sunnis and Druse did not treat Christians as fellow Lebanese, they used the PLO to achieve political gains they can handle.
        3. Shites treated Christians with respect and helped protect them from their fellow Lebanese. Example, the only town in lower Shouf mountain that was not harmed was a town called Joun which had a mixed Christian and Shites. The Christians helped the shites when LF were in control and the shites returned the favor when Jumblat and company took over. No one was harmed and the houses were preserved. That did not happen in other parts of the Shouf.

        4. Aoun studied all this and came to the conclusion that the alliance with HA is good for the stability of Lebanon.

I’m sure that Geagea, Gemeyal , George and the others love Lebanon as much as I do. We disagree on how the future course because of our different experiences.
Look what Amin Gemayel did, while the Christian and Druse were killing each other he conspired with Jumblat to rob the Medina bank. He devalued the Lebanese Lira, many Lebanese lost their livelihood.

I can go on but I’m at work now. BTW the Amir thing was a joke as you guessed.

You probably not Christian and mostly likely a Supporter Of Hezbollah and pushing Aoun in front so you can create friction between Christians. You’re the devil and that’s what you, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria all about. They hate Lebanon and do not wish for it to strive and live in Freedom. They want us to live in caves and dress like Mullahs and listen to the Supreme Leader the playboy in Iran. According to some videos Israelis have on him that he’s a big womeniser and love fast cars. that’s doesn’t go well with following waliat al faqih.

Just because you’re probably Syrian Alwaites your name don’t mean shit. You’re an instigator just like Aoun. You’re corrupt and deceiteful and stupid ass mother fucker..
