Suleiman wants Lebanon surrounded by democratic countries

President Michel Suleiman told a delegation of leaders and representatives of international democratic parties on Friday that Lebanon was concerned about the presence of democratic governments in the countries surrounding it.

“What Lebanon wants for the [countries] surrounding it is the emergence and presence of governments that respect democracy and are far from sectarian fanaticism, ” National News Agency quoted Suleiman as saying .

Protests were held on Friday in Lebanon’s northern capital Tripoli and in the Bekaa town of Saadnayel, in support of the pro- Democracy protesters in Syria a statement issued by the office of the Liberation Party said.

The protesters called for the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime
