An Israeli missile intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza on Thursday in the first known use of Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile shield, a Reuters photographer said.
The anti-missile weapon, deployed recently, was launched as fighting flared with Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip after militants fired an anti-tank weapon that hit an Israeli school bus, injuring two.
The photographer said the missile was fired at a rocket which appeared to be aimed at the Israeli city of Ashkelon, just north of Gaza. Reuters
