Baabda palace is reportedly gearing up to welcome the 2 Arab leaders for summit talks with President Michel Suleiman aimed at easing the tension in Lebanon, following the reports of Hezbollah indictments by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon ( STL)

Earlier media reports said Assad would visit Lebanon August 3.

Assad’s trip to Lebanon will be his first since 2005, when relations between both countries took a downturn following the assassination of Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

According to An Nahar Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani may also attend the summit .

Suleiman has been calling for calm , but Hezbollah and its allies have launched a well organized campaign against the STL following a July 20 report in the pro-Syrian newspaper, Al Safir which revealed that Hezbollah members will be indicted by STL in the 2005 assassination of Hariri.
