Lebanese Military Prosecutor Judge Samih al-Hajj on Monday called for two Lebanese citizens and a Palestinian to be sentenced to death ( should they be convicted) on charges of spying for Israel and the attempted murder by one of them of an al-Qaida suspect.

Al-Hajj charged the defendants with “providing Israel with information as well as facilitating its aggressions and terrorist acts on Lebanon,” according to the charge sheet.

Palestinian Mohammed Ibrahim Awad and Lebanese Robert Edmond Kfoury are both in custody. The third suspect, Lebanese Elias Riyad Karam, was charged in absentia.

Indictments have been filed in Lebanon recently against dozens of other individuals on similar counts.
