Egyptian FM tells Israel: Hands off Lebanon, Syria

Abul GheitEgyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit told Al-Hayat newspaper that Egypt rejects any “act of aggression” against Lebanon and that he advised Israel not to resume war against him.

“Weapons should not be used to try to solve problems because violence is not the way to resolve disputes.” He said

He also stressed that Egypt similarly rejects any Israeli attack on Syria.

Lebanon and Syria “are two Arab countries and we care very much for the their people ,” and stressed that “Egypt spearheads the defense of Arab interests.”

Abul Gheit agreed that the region is now “held hostage by Iran.”
