Turkey is advising its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon following the kidnapping of two Turkish nationals there. The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday also urged Turks already in Lebanon to take “all kinds of precautions” for their safety.
OTV reported that Lebanese citizen from the Al Qasas family was abducted in Mdeirij area. No one claimed responsibility for his abduction.
Liban Lait Company owner Ahmad Zaidan was freed on Sunday , LBC television reported. The report added that House Speaker Nabih Berri played “a major role” in the process that led to Zaidan’s release by “exerting political pressure on some groups.”
March 14 MP Marwan Hamadeh told Al-Jumhuriya newspaper in an interview published on Thursday that the Syrian Embassy in Lebanon should be closed if it was involved in the abduction of Syrian nationals in Lebanon.
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea called on Attorney General Judge Said Mirza and Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi on Wednesday to pursue the issue of the “kidnapping of Syrian nationals in Lebanon in order to reveal the truth,” according to a statement issued by the LF.
