The office of owner of al-Jadeed TV Tahsin Khayyat in Beirut’s Bir Hassan neighborhood was attacked by unknown assailants ,  National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The agency said that the  shooting  by the assailants inflicted material damages on the building where the office is located.

Investigations into the incident is underway , NNA added

Later during the day, former Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi issued a statement denouncing the attack, he said: “We denounce the shooting attack against the office of al-Jadeed owner,” and urged “judicial action on the incident to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”

A war or words erupted recently  between al-Jadeed and a TV station owner and Speaker Nabih Berri.

Al-Jadeed accused Berri of striking what it described as a “suspicious” deal with the Kuwaiti al-Kharafi group where Berri is involved in “corrupt” acts.

  1. In a country hijacked by armed thugs who openly defy every possible law (not to mention common sense), what can one expect?

    BTW, checked that Tahsin Khayyat character. Particualrly sympathetic one he ain’t. Seems to be a great Philosemite as well, in that old, proven Lebanese tradition:
