Protesters slam Kimmel over ‘kill everyone in China’ joke

kimmelMore than 1,000 people picketed ABC’s headquarters in Burbank on Saturday to protest a Jimmy Kimmel segment that joked that the United States should “kill everyone in China.”

Burbank police said they responded to the protest in the 2300 block of Riverside Drive after some demonstrators went into a restricted area. However, police said the protest was peaceful and no one was arrested.

The protest was part of a nationwide move backed by Chinese American organizations against the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” recurring segment called “Kids’ Table.” Similar protests were planned for Saturday at other ABC locations.

In the Oct. 16 segment, Kimmel has a roundtable discussion with a group of children about the United States’ $1.3-trillion debt to China, according to Times Community News.

He asks them how the United States should repay its debt, which prompted one child to respond by saying “kill everyone in China.” Kimmel later engaged the children again with a debate about killing the Chinese people or allowing them to live.

ABC and Kimmel have since apologized for the segment.

  3. Now he has over 1 billion people after him. The Americans like to emphasize how much U.S. debt the Chinese own while it is the U.S. government, state governments, federal reserve, U.S. banks and American people that hold most of the debt which is mostly held in U.S. bonds and T bills.

Yes, but having uneducated children discuss anything was bound to lead to a disaster.
      Call it a bad plan.
He would have been better to have his show referenced as Art Linkletter did it – ‘Children say the strangest things.’
Then everyone could have a good chuckle at the inane logic of a child’s mind.

After that, of course, it’s a bunch of people getting exercise on the street who don’t like Kimmel and his brand of ‘wit’, but can’t push a button to turn him off.

I agree but it happened and if you invite a guest to your home/show and they say bad words that you didn’t expect. then how is that your fault? i tell my kids not to say bad words yet they turn around and say it anyway. bad behavior and bad parenting.. call it what you like its what they learn in school and everywhere. you just try your best..
