Syria opposition: no peace talks until Hezbollah, Iran leave

george sabra snc chiefSyria’s main opposition group said Thursday it will not take part in proposed U.S.-Russia peace talks while key allies of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime are waging war alongside government forces.

“The National Coalition will not take part in any international conference or any such efforts so long as the militias of Iran and Hezbollah continue their invasion of Syria,” the opposition’s acting chief George Sabra told reporters in Istanbul.

It has taken the divided opposition meeting in Istanbul a week to find common ground on the so-called Geneva 2 peace conference proposed by Moscow and Washington.

The Syrian National Coalition (SNC) has previously said it was open in principle to any peace initiatives.

Sabra’s comments follow Syrian army advances in areas where the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah has joined troops loyal to Assad.

“In light of this savagery, any talk of an international conference or a political solution in Syria is just meaningless chatter,” he said.

His statement came hours after the Coalition launched an urgent appeal to rescue 1,000 wounded civilians from the town of Qusayr in central Syria.

Accurate statement … useless chatter. In a week, 1000 wounded and gassed … in another week 10,000 dead. Conferences don’t happen that fast. Amazing how fast the Russians got weapons in there…

If the AL Queda led rebel terrorists were not supported and armed by the west and the dictatorial monarchies of S. Arabia and Bahrain all with the approval of the puppet-master USA – 80,000+ would be alive and 2mm would not be homeless. The Syrian people are not joining the terrorist – they want the terror to stop and live in peace. We could have stopped it all – but we encourage the reign of terror to continue.

The Syrian army had weapons all national armies have weapons. What is amazing is how fat the terrorists got weapons from the west – in spite of the arms embargo – which never existed.
The Russians have backed free Syrian elections to let them vote whether Assad should continue.
We refuse free elections. Thank God the Russians have the courage to stand up to our western wall of terror!!!!!!
What has Assad done to suggest his removal.?? Why should the West decide on Assad ????
Is it our business ???? How does he threaten the US Europe our countries and our citizens.
His is secular country with a democratically elected parliament, a constitution and defined borders.
Can any of the other ME countries say the same???

Well, you’ve been reading the wrong ‘articles’ for sure. Or are now playing catch-up?
The only difference between Assad’s democracy and El-Supremo’s democracy – as it pertains to elections – is that Syria was Baathed in the ‘secular’ waters – no god but Assads …. something like Korea.
The Assads may not make it to the 3rd generation … 😉

the SNC is an artificial 9-10 month old fragmented group built around mercenaries,Al Queda terrorists and financed by Arab royalty directed by western powers with the consent of the United States..
Hezbollah and Hamas are legitimate established political parties in Lebanon and Palestine – and both were birthed by the savage militancy of Israel.
Hezbollah is siding militarily with the legitimate sovereign government of Syria and are a much more important factor than the hastily assembled SNC and their western backers, In light of the savagery of the SNC sponsored mercenary terrorist forces – who have been offer representation and refused participation – the world must face the fact that the SNC wants a total capitulation of the legitimate Syrian government and are counting on the west to achieve military victory over the Syrian people and oust/assassinate Assad.
If these thugs will not come to the table and count on violence and terror as their weapons of choice and power – then the world must unite against them.
Assad has promised 2014 elections to let the Syrian people decide his future. The SNC fears this as does the US/NATO/Israel et all.
