US restricts travel to Lebanon

Share:

US dept of state logoThe US State Department has urged the U.S. citizens to avoid all travel to Lebanon because of current safety and security concerns.

U.S. citizens living and working in Lebanon should understand that they accept risks in remaining and should carefully consider those risks.

This travel advisory supersedes the Travel warning issued on September 17, 2012, to emphasize information on security, kidnappings, and an upsurge in violence in Lebanon and the region, the statement said.

The potential in Lebanon for a spontaneous upsurge in violence remains. Lebanese government authorities are not able to guarantee protection for citizens or visitors to the country should violence erupt suddenly, the warning added.

Life is about being in the right place at the right time. And you don’t live unless you venture. So do what you WISH to do (sensibly) … and maybe Dab would not be a bad tour quide to have – a ‘group’ of 2 is not a targetted ‘gang’ anyway, especially if dressed like the locals. Get in touch with Dab … and, as they say, have a blast. :-))

My brother is currently visiting Lebanon and he is not a happy camper. The tension is evident everywhere….On the other hand, Lebanon is used to this environment being the whore of the region and where all the scores are settled…..You shouldn’t be asking 5th, he is drinking scotch like water so he can forget about reality….lol..
