LBC TV reported on Sunday that “thousands of Syrian workers left Lebanon en masse Sunday” and went back to Syria.

The report added that based on official data, “7000 Syrians left Lebanon through the Al-Masnaa border crossing on Sunday after 20,000 others had left earlier.”

LBC cited some Syrians workers as saying that “pressure” was being exerted on them “on a daily basis, especially after photos of a Syrian national who was allegedly murdered in Lebanon were circulated online and via mobile phones.”

LBC quoted diplomatic sources as saying: “The Syrian workers were not instructed by their governmnet to return home”.

According to observers, the number of Syrian workers in Lebanon ranges anywhere between 500, 000 to 1 million depending on the season.
