Building collapses in Tabarja, eight injured

Eight people were injured when a building partially collapsed north of Beirut, Lebanese security officials said Saturday.

The victims were all construction workers who were living in the building located at a resort in the beach town of Tabarja.

Three men were rescued shortly after the collapse occurred Friday and five more were freed from the rubble overnight.

The Interior Ministry said the building belonged to a construction company but had not been registered with the government since 1970. The Tabarja Beach Complex said the building was on their property but belonged to an independent ownership group.

Sounds like one of those ‘Refurbish a Hotel’ projects … for the tourist trade, of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰
