The Arab League halted its observer mission in Syria today because of escalating violence that has killed 130 people in the past 24 hours

Moroccan members of the mission were seen in the lobby of the Sheraton hotel in Damascus late on Saturday, with their bags packed.

They left the hotel in a convoy, escorted by security and police, reportedly on the way to the airport.
