Choucair: Will honor Mikati’s proposed wage increase not Nahhas’

General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture chief Mohammad Choucair told LBC TV on Tuesday that the members of the Union will start implementing the initial wage increase that was proposed by PM Nagib Mikati and approved by the cabinet on December 8.

Choucair stressed that his members reject the last wage increase as proposed by labor Minister Charbel Nahhas.

Mikati proposed a minimum wage of 600, 000 LL ( 20% increase) while Nahhas proposed a minimum wage of 868,000 LL or 74 % increase.

The current minimum wage is 500,000 LL
