A United States official who did not want his name disclosed commented during an interview with al Rai newspaper about Lebanon PM Minister Nagib Mikati by saying that all the US heard from Mikati is promises and excuses.
“He tells us that he wants to fund the Special tribunal for Lebanon ( STL) and when our diplomats reviewed the Lebanese budget they found nothing allocated for the tribunal and whenever they raise the issue with him he reiterates his promises which remained talk only up till now”
The official added since day one of assuming his position as the new premier we said in Washington that we will judge him by what he does but so far we saw nothing positive and all we get from him is talk, promises , excuses and apologies.
