Beirut neighborhood of Ras al-Nabaa was shocked Sunday evening by the discovery of the bodies of six children and their mother , shot to death by a family member who later on committed suicide.
According to National News Agency, the husband, identified as Ali al-Amin Hajj Dib, arrived to his house in the Ras al-Nabaa area earlier in the evening to find his wife and children dead.
The report said that Dib was visiting his parents in the town of Aramta in south Lebanon . He was accompanied by two of his children.
Security forces arrived to the scene and launched investigations into the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Hadi Dib, 25, shot dead his mother and five siblings before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide in their apartment located in Omar bin al-Khatab Street, said a police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear, the police source said, while forensic experts said a gunshot pierced under Hadi’s chin , indicating that he most probably committed suicide.
Some reports indicated that the killed suffered from mental disorders
The victims were identified as Dib’s two brothers Amin, 23 and Zaher 15, and his three sisters Maha, 20, Manal, 18, Zahraa, 15, and his mother Nawal Younes, 55.
Ali al-Amin Hajj Dib is a bakery shop owner in the Al-Basta neighborhood, of Beirut.
