Syrian security forces wounds opposition leaders during Sweida protest

The city of Sweida ( Souweida) the stronghold of the Druze community in Syria witnessed another protest today against the regime of Syrian president Bashar al Assad.

Medical sources have reported that 2 leaders of the Damascus declaration were seriously wounded when the the Syrian security forces attacked the protesters.

The sources did not reveal the names of the leaders

Sweida is located near Daraa the flashpoint of the Syrian uprising

The Damascus Declaration was a statement of unity by Syrian opposition figures issued in October 2005. It criticized the Syrian government regime as `authoritarian, totalitarian and cliquish,` and called for `peaceful, gradual,` reform `founded on accord, and based on dialogue and recognition of the other.

The five-paged document unveiled at an unauthorized press conference was signed by more than 250 “major opposition figures” as well as parties “both secular and religious, Arab and Kurdish.” The statement called for a “fair solution for the Kurdish issue in Syria in a way insures the equality of Kurds with all other Syrian citizens”.

    the syrian forces making another big mistakes attacking the druze community ; no one ever won against the druze if you see the history of wars  in the middleeast the druze are touph intelligent and good warriors and they always finished victorious
    one druze fighter is equivalent to 100 security forces fighters ; if the syrian forces  are attacking the druze communities i belive  now that this  regeme is finished

      i;ll take it u are druze lets be fair in here i don;t know why people put the religion first always druze are the same as anyone else and they where always good in back stabbing take a good look at jumblat and lets wait and see what will happen in syria hezballah was gonna wipe u out the mountain and jumblat know thats ,thats why he back up he is clever in way

        Lebnaneh…if Jumblat is a back stabber, that does not make the Druze back stabbers!! So please don’t jump to that conclusions. Also, I know that Hizballah are very strong but there is no way that they were gonna wipe the Druze from the mountains. Whether Jumblat knows that or not or whether he is scared or not is irrelevent. The Druze are proud of who they are and when it comes to life or death, they don’t run away or take orders from anybody. And yes I am Druze and proud of that and please don’t make ignorant statements like that. Thanks.

          it wasn;t an ignorant statments at all if they are a proud people at least they will give back the beloning to the other people the one they stole in the mountains the lands they did take by force with the help of the jeyish el yarmouk our land its belong to us and not yours and u ant tougher then anyone u took our land with the help of the syrian and the palestinains i was just replying to the history no more no less and u are like anyone else in lebanon u do take order from outside only one part of lebanon did not bend to the syrian and we all know who they are the syrian killed your leader kamal which i do have a lot of respect to but not for the rest and what did u do kiss there asses instead u fight with them thats a fact my friend

      Its because the Druze are like wolves they stay in one big pack, and they are not divided upon themselves like Christians and Muslims. They are good warriors and very merciless and ruthless at the same time.

    sorry to be an ignorant here but aren’t these the druze of syria? what has jumblat got to do with them? he is lebanese druze. 
    not that i like jumblatt’s ways..but with the druze pple, nationality does not matter.. i wish the rest of us take an example of the druze.

      i was replying to him as he say now syria gonna go becouse he attack the druze ,and in wich way do u wanna take and example of them ,is it the way they are trying to make there own state i don;t care about religion i care about my country where all bounche of people each one of them trying to make his own estate so tell me why they don;t return the land which they confiscated during the war if we need to build a nation we should build a proper one and not a farm i don;t think we could do it in lebanon

I was just telling you that don’t put all the Druze at fault when you talk about how bad Walid Jumblat is and don’t say that Hizballah will wipe us from the mountains. That’s all….

       Jumblat is the leader of almost all arab druz. Even in Israel the druz have a lot of respect for him and he meets with druz israeli members of congress in europe all the time. The Druz in the world really have it bad. for one they are a minority in every country they live in, they dont have a druz nation and in Lebanon the leaders they have are either too busy getting high (Jumblat), too stupid to even be considered (arslan) and too fat and stupid to even be considered a human (wahab). The Kurds have it just as bad if not worst, but at least they have the entire sunni middle east. Asyrians are christans so they can always find a place in Lebanon or the west. Now the druz in Lebanon have to either stan with Jumblat or as we have seen just do what they think is best and vote for march 14 in the next elections. Marwan Hmadi is the Only Druz politician that has not shifted from one position to another or said stupid things like wahab…
