2 killed in clashes over illegal housing in Lebanon

Share:

Two people were killed and two others wounded Thursday in clashes in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Internal Security Forces said.

The incident occurred in the southern port city of Tyre, and an investigation is under way into the incident.

Residents threw rocks and fired shots at security forces who were trying to stop the illegal construction of homes, the ISF said.

Three military cars were burned in the melee, the security forces said.

The city is a mix of Christians and Shiite and Sunni Muslims. Palestinians live in refugee camps around the city. CNN

No sympathy for the killed. March 8 and 14 have officially condemned these buildings, and the attacks of the violators on the ISF. The entire country opposed the harm of our Forces and appluads the efforts of these brave people to implement and enforce Lebanese law on every inch of our soil.

Nice to see the rival political camps agree on something for once.

    1. this we can agree on, although when you say “every inch of our soil” do you really mean every inch?

I agree crossed, No sympathy for anarchists. We all want the rule of law.

Now if we could convince you that Hezbollah needs to be disarmed we could all truly be on the same page.

Haha I do believe Hezbollah should be disarmed or merged with the army. We probably disagree on when that should happen!

the audacity of these pple… one of them were given few seconds of airtime on tv and he was actually warning the army and the police that if they haven’t stopped, they will answer to them…the bastards!

i am sorry but berri and nasrullah can say all they like about wanting everyone to abide by law when everything they are doing at the moment is breaking the law.

if these pple are not sure of who is backing them, they would not have dared to behave as such and fire bullets at the army and the police.

even if berri and hizbollah are playing the angels but they are devils in disguise…i do not believe anything coming out of their mouths..

berri obtained a law degree in 1963 from The Lebanese University in Beirut.

Bashir Gemayel completed his formal university education at St. Joseph University in Beirut. After teaching for three years at the Lebanese Modern Institute, he graduated in 1971 with a degree in Law and another in Political Sciences in 1973. And in 1971, Gemayel also took another law qualification from the American and International Law Academy in Dallas, Texas.

Amin Gemayel obtained a law degree in 1965 from the St. Joseph University in Beirut.

I really cannot see the point you are trying to make. You are comparing bizir (pumpkin seeds) to pistachios!

Don’t get me wrong Rafic, I do not mind berri, I just hate that an educated person is a Yes Man to iran & syria.

you are mistaken, Berri graduated from the Lebanese University,Gemayle from St Joseph, this doesn’t matter really , did he practice law first of all, he graduated from Amal school when Amal school , the gangs that are used to live on someone els property, I really don’t understand the Shiite Lebanese ,who the hell they think themselves that even before the war they go and confiscate land and after they sit on it to get compensation. Hariri paid them close to 300 millions in total to kick them from downtown Beirut ,they were living in destroyed buildings, and late offered them close to 400 million billion to leave the Ouzai and from around the old Beirut airport runaway but they didn’t accept , and now they are building the new extended runaway .The best solution will be to build another airport and cut the livelihood of over 4000 Shiites family who live from the airport baggage carrying and jobs in the airport that Berri helped them to get and let them suffer , open a new Airport in Batroun and let the Lebanese see a nice view instead of landing over slums,Wiht all respect the Shiite Lebanese have no hope if they continue with their out of control pregnancy and low standard of livng and education, They are bringing Lebanon 10 step behind for every step forward
