MP Sakr: Anyone who allies himself with Aoun should remain silent

During an interview on Monday with Future TV ,March 14 MP Okab Saqr launched an attack against those that accuse March 14 of treason without any proof :

“Hezbollah is allied with ( MP Michel ) Aoun, who sent five MPs to the military court to clap for for someone who had been accused of collaborating with Israel ” . This is in reference to trial of retired General Fayez Karam by the military court earlier this year.

Karam, a senior Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) official, was arrested by the Internal Security Forces (ISF) – Information Branch last August and was charged with espionage and providing Israel with information on Hezbollah, FPM leader Michel Aoun’s closest ally.

Hezbollah reportedly knew that Karam, was collaborating with Israel from the moment he was arrested last August , an Arab diplomat told Al-Balad newspaper in an interview published last October 22.

“Hezbollah did not bring up the issue of Karam publicly because it took into account its alliance with FPM leader MP Michel Aoun,” the diplomat said.

Karam and Aoun went into exile in France following Aoun’s defeat by the Syrian army in 1990 and both returned to Lebanon in May 2005 , 11 days following the withdrawal of the Syrian army from Lebanon.

Sakr concluded his interview by saying : “whoever has such an ally must remain silent for at least ten years and refrain from talking about treason,” warning that “Israel also wants another May 7 and whoever wants the arms to cause another strife is the traitor who will serve the Israeli interests.”

Sakr is referring to May 2008 uprising ( when Hezbollah gunmen occupied West Beirut and tried but failed to occupy MT Lebanon) and to Aoun’s comment last Saturday

Commenting Saturday on the eve of the Sunday rally by the March 14 alliance against the non-state ( illegal ) arms, Aoun said :” It is better if they go to sleep and not bother themselves about the arms because no one in the world can help them disarm the resistance , not the UN , nor the United States nor Israel and if the arms have been used internally against them it is because they ( March 14 ) deserve it .”
