Jumblatt will boycott the Cedar Revolution rally

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt told al-Anbaa: The party will not take part in the March 13 rally because it knows that the people are responsible enough to refuse to participate in an occasion where speeches will be aimed at inciting strife, hatred, and sectarianism.

According to Ya Libnan Shouf correspondent many within Jumblatt’s PSP party and Druze community do not share his views and for this reason they will most probably be participating in large numbers in the March 13 rally

Over a million Lebanese , Chrstians, Druze and Muslims protested in downtown Beirut on March 14, 2005 demanding Syria's withdrawal from Lebanon. Syria withdraw in April 2005 after 29 years of military presence

March 14 marks the 6th anniversary of the Cedar revolution when over 1 million Lebanese gathered in down Beirut to protest against the murder of the the late PM Rafik Hariri and called on Syrian troops to leave Lebanon. The Syrian troops withdrew in April 2005

The rally is being held on Sunday March 13 ( instead of March 14) in order to attract larger number of participants .

    This is silly news again,he didnt attend harriri memorial on Feb 14,and declared he is no longer
    part of 14 azar so why would he attend this event…Poor news and journalism…..and one comment
    for the rally being held on the 13th do you guys think this will help the country and benefit to close
    out some of our differences or do you guys think this could have the potential to lead to an all out civil
    war cause from wht im hearing this will be very vulguar and attackful speeches,and you and I both know
    this will only cause strife,so in essense whats really the point of this,other than really declaring war on the
    majority of the country…..like to hear ur input on this and please tell me how this will solve the problem at hand
    considering your not gonna remove 40 percent of the country which are shia,and there allys,and half the army
    is shia,so im curious this rally thats being put together what is the bigger picture they plan to accomplish,cause
    were also smart enough here to know what there telling u they are gonna accomplish is impossible so what is there
    true motive….look forward to hearing comments that may be pro or against the rally..and what you guys feel it will
    present as a pro and as a con…Thanks

True motive? ya our true motive suck for you huh, no more weapons and no more lies from HA. Ya our motive couldnt be anymore clear, join the moder world or get left behind in the dust.         or any rally is gonna get rid of the weapons….HA controls the goverment dude,the most powerful

        army in the region with the help of the most powerful army in the world couldnt take them or there weapons,

          modern world as in the rest of the world around you. in modern “normal” countries militias dont run the country and drive its policies to fit their needs…you will see our realistic world this coming weekend, and believe me it will be very real….and for your coment about the most powerful nations, Israel was stopped because of the international efforts, otherwise things could have been much worse for Lebanon no thanks to that savage Hassan.

    at fighting israel than HA? just trying to pick ur brain

      yes a centralized legitament army representing the state will be far more equiped, and quite frankly Israel will no longer have a reason to attack us…There are too many watchful eyes these days Michael, No more landgrabs or false wars by israel, the international community is key in this….

        To the point 100% the only reason Isreal wants to attack is when we have groups not part of Lebanon government who have weapons and point them south. I would be watching 24/7. I dont care if they where America or anyone else.

      I dont know what makes you think that Israel just wants to invade lebanon for the hell of it, every time Israel directed its guns or armies at lebanon, it was in response to assaults on the Israeli population and security coming from lebanese territory, if lebanon(the government) cant stop the BS on its borders, then Israel has every right to go in and stop it themselves.     It is a shame, Jumblatt has a short memory. He knows real well what happened to the Druze towns on the hands of Hezeb Allah few years ago. I am not sure how can a man like him change his position when the circumstance suits him and expect all the Druze to follow him. Wake up people; think for yourselves, you do not need anyone to tell you what you should do. I thought he was a man of honor and principles, he turns on his allies and he talks about freedom of speech and choice and he is telling his people not to take part of the Rally on 3/13/11. I am a Druze but I not listen to him or anyone else and will not need them to tell me what should or can do. It is time for him to leave and so many other people in the government. There is a lot of smart young generation in Lebanon with new ideas that can take our loved country to a place where we all can live in peace. Yes NO for weapons does not matter who have the weapons, Yes for the Lebanese Army only and for one country.

      I think the man lost his marbles and his credibillity as a politian,in particular his not a true representative of his community anymore.Time is up for the man and he must and should retire from politics momentarly.

    It is a shame, Jumblatt has a short memory. He knows real well what happened to the Druze towns on the hands of Hezeb Allah few years ago. I am not sure how can a man like him change his position when the circumstance suits him and expect all the Druze to follow him. Wake up people; think for yourselves, you do not need anyone to tell you what you should do. I thought he was a man of honor and principles, he turns on his allies and he talks about freedom of speech and choice and he is telling his people not to take part of the Rally on 3/13/11. I am a Druze but I not listen to him or anyone else and will not need them to tell me what should or can do. It is time for him to leave and so many other people in the government. There is a lot of smart young generation in Lebanon with new ideas that can take our loved country to a place where we all can live in peace. Yes NO for weapons does not matter who have the weapons, Yes for the Lebanese Army only and for one country.
