Omar Karami is Hezbollah’s candidiate for Lebanon PM, report

According to an Nahar diplomatic sources many contacts took place until very late hours Sunday night after the speech of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah aimed at delaying the parliamentary consultations over the nomination of a prime minister to lead the next government .

Nasrallah in his speech declared that the opposition has decided against nominating caretaker PM Saad Hariri .

According to An Nahar sources the race is now on between the opposition and March 14 with the aim of securing maximum number of votes for their nominee. The sources revealed that the candidate of the Hezbollah-led opposition is former PM Omar Karami .

The pro-Syrian Karami was the prime minister when former PM Rafik Hariri ( Saad’s father) was assassinated in 2005 . Lebanon Files

    The Sunnis did not vote for him in his hometown!! Nasrallah and Aoun have the audacity to nominate the office of the Sunni leader, and then they wonder why the sunnis are mad. They create rifts amongst people and then they wonder why. Have they no shame?

    The sunnis want Hariri to represent them and most of the Lebanese as per the elections wanted him to be the Prime Minister, so it not up to the Shiites or to part of Aoun Christians to decide on this Sunni Post in the Goverment. Omar Karami is not the Sunnis first, second or even third choice to replace Hariri, so forget it.

    HA and Aoun want to have a puppet in this position, Hariri actually had the courage not to bow down to them and submit to all their demands despite the fact they have threated his PM position and even at some instances his life, I salut you Saad Hariri

    These clowns shooting themself in the foot, Lebanon will see the truth now and hope they will stand up and take to the streets like they did to Syria, but how can you when the gun is on your head and the country is going backwards.
    I was coming to Lebanon for a holiday but not now thank you shitraslla.Hold the Lebanese hostage the international community can see what you are up to. I feel sorry for the people of Lebanon who can not get on with thier lives.

    Some people on this thread are misinformed. The prime mister position is reserved for the Sunnis and not for the Hariris. Therefore all MPs have the right to nominate whoever they want as long as the nominee is Sunni. I think Hariri should run as well as Karami or maybe JadM too. I don’t like this Karami dude because the Karamis loyalty was not always pro Lebanon. They supported the PLO when it was in Beirut and supported the Syrians as well. The same thing can be said about the Hariris and the Sanioras. I think Aoun should nominate an unknown Sunni maybe someone that live in the US like my freind Riad Khaleed.

      ok ok ok I will run for PM ….stop nagging over my head….so when i become PM I will be probably killed after few hours and Hariri will come in place ….so to cut a long story short just let him be a PM again. The PM post is not exclusive to Hariri but he is the man that is most suitable for this position at this point…

      O. Karami knows that the Syrian killed his Brother, he sold his family for his own gain and his gangs, inside information tells that resent bomb threat was to bring attention to him, and for him align with those that can kill him too.
