Judge requests death penalty for army colonol over spying for Israel

Military Magistrate Riad Abu Ghida issued an indictment on Monday requesting the death penalty for Lebanese Colonel Antoine Abu Jaoude, who is charged with collaborating with Israel, based on articles 274 , 275 and 278 of the penal law.

In his indictment, the judge accused Abu Jaoude of transferring information to Israel to help it in winning the war against Lebanon . He referred Abu Jaoude to the permanent military court for prosecution.

Abu Jaoude’s trial is to begin on January 26, 2011 National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Last August, Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged Abu Jaoude with collaborating for Israel.
