Lebanon arrests another army officer over spying for Israel- update

Al Akhbar newspaper reported Tuesday that the Lebanese intelligence directorate has a arrested few days ago a General in the army on suspicion of spying for Israel. According to al Akhbar sources the army decided not to make the announcement until after the 65th anniversary of the founding of the army , which took place last Sunday. The name of the officer was not released.

Update: The name of the army officer that was arrested on suspicion of spying for Israel is Antoine Abu Jawdeh from northern Metn area

    Its amazing how many spies they have caught over the course of the last 5 years. Yet they have not captured ever any israelis whom they accuse of killing Hariri and the 18 others who were accompanying him? its amazing no one was captured for the killing of Gibran Tueni, walid Eido, Samir Qasir, Pierre Gemyal and many more good people? Now how is that possible? everyone opposing the STL is using these spies in order to implicate israel in the Hariri killing and many other respected leaders. I suppose after the bombing took place and they were sure Hariri was dead, then Lahoud order the cleanup of the bomb scene. Its amazing if we were to implicate Israel in the bombing why our gov’t then order the cleanup? could it be Lahoud and the ISF were israeli agents? Then Syria sends those two shmucks of their intelligence agents to confuse and deceit the STL investigation. SO now the opposition total focus on these agents? Please ask Husem who travels back and forth from Bekaa to damascus why did he lie about the whole to implicate Syria first then say it was all under pressure? Does the STL take this guy words of mouth as evidence? what are you people thinking? The Europeans fears hezbollah and I am sure the US would love nothing better and the same for israel of course to see hezbollah is implicated in this. But also excluding israel, the US and Europeans do not want civil strife in Lebanon and there is no way the Obama administration would go on blindly or want to force the verdict and blame hezbollah for the sake of getting even. Obama wants to make peace with Iran and wants to make peace between palestinians and israel. Yes we all know israel would love to see hezbollah humilated. But there is no way the international tribunal is controlled by israel or israel have any way in on the STL. Anyone who believes it is killing those innocent people twice and keep on killing lebanon. If you want to shove this whole thing under the rug and ignore it for the sake of peace? then what will do you the next time somebody opposes hezbollah and they kill him? are we going to continue implicating israel until kingdom come? No one wants to see civil strife and that including israel. WHy because it knows very well the hezbollah gains the upper hand and it will control everything and that means no one in lebanon would dare object to anything hezbollah does. Israel would love to eliminate hezbollah and we’re all clear on that. The fact is so many opposition leaders coming out barking like dogs and keep blaming everyone without even yet directly know from the STL they will be accused. Then why are you feeling guilty? why are screaming if you’re innocent and not being accused yet? So for the sake of not trying the people who are responsible for hariri and 18 others. But for the sake of so many killed during the war. I am all for trying all the leaders involved whether it maybe christians or muslims. Let’s haul all these bastards to jail and keep them there and hang them if guilty of war crimes. And one more thing do not allow their sons and daughters to become part of the gov’t. Long Live Lebanon and please let the STL handle this and work with it not against it for the sake of lebanon.

      George, With a misspelling of an important name, I salute you for your eloquent discussion! Can the cell phones and the technology! Everybody knows who is good and bad. So instead of sitting in NJ, why don’t you get on an airplane and help? I am here, I am not Lebanese, I am a girl and I LOVE LEBANON AND BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THE LEBANESE PEOPLE. The laws are written for everybody not just a few. Everybody must stand by the President and let the government’s appointed Tribunal do its work. The issue is not race, religion or politics. THE ISSUE IS TO PUT THE BAD GUYS IN JAIL. Anyone interferring is a naughty boy and must go straight to jail too!!!!! WHERE ARE THE MEN? OR HAVE THEY ALL BECOME MICE AND, THEREFORE, COWARDS? Stand by your country, UNITED YOU STAND AND DIVIDED YOU FALL. All the naughty boys must be nervous only because they have been bad and are doing bad things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to have a clean heart to look another man in the eye and shake his hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    when people are getting paid $400 per month in lebanon and israel comes in with $5,000/month probably at a time, many are taking the bite cos they wanna live.

    this is a message to the lebanese government to start bringing the standard of living higher. pay people more money.
