Unofficial results showed the Free Patriotic Movement won municipal elections in the North Lebanon town of Batroun while the Lebanese Forces won in Bsharre. Marada Movement chief Suleiman Franjieh defeated his rival Michel Moawwad in Zghorta.
In Tripoli, the “Consensus” list, an alliance grouping the city’s major political parties, including Mustaqbal movement, scored a sweeping victory.
