In democratic countries people have to wait hours , days , sometimes weeks before knowing the results of an election but in Lebanon we know the results way before the election takes place.

In an interview with LBCI television on Tuesday, Minister of Interior Ziad Baroud announced the preliminary results of the first round of the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for May 2.

Baroud said that 55 municipalities in Mount Lebanon, including eight in Kesrouan, over 10 in Baabda and nine in the Metn, were chosen by consensus.

Also, 30 mayors in Baabda and 44 in the Metn won uncontested, said Baroud.

He reiterated that consensus is part of democracy and said that reaching consensus reduces the number of staff members and security forces needed to work the electoral process.
