Future bloc condems speculation about STL

The Future parliamentary bloc which is headed by Lebnanese PM Saad Hariri issued a statement following its meeting in Qoreitem on Tuesday condemning the speculations on the work of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

The STL is not politicized, and all insinuations, suggestions, leaks, analysis and fabricated news about the tribunal and its outcome seek to distort facts and decrease national support for the STL’s work, added the statement.

The Future bloc commended the high professionalism of the STL and its recent statements on the court’s neutrality and professionalism.

The statement comes after STL Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare’s office issued a statement last week dismissing reports of speculations on the tribunal’s work and adding that the Office of the Prosecutor’s (OTP) priority is safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of the investigation.

There was more speculation today about what its chief will say tomorrow with regards to the reports about its involvement in the Hariri murder.

“The real message that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah wants to send to everyone in Lebanon and the world is that involvement in the issue of accusation against the party will ultimately lead to a political May 7,” sources close to Hezbollah told al-Akhbar newspaper .
