Nusra raids Lebanon to pressure Hezbollah to retreat from Syria

hezbollah - Jabhat al NusraThe Lebanese army seized the headquarters of Jabhat a-Nusra-affiliated Islamist militants in the Sunni-majority city of Tripoli Monday, ending a four-day standoff in Lebanon’s second-largest city that killed 42 and injured more than 100 more, reported Lebanese news agency The Daily Star.

The Tripoli Islamists, while mostly composed of local fighters and dissidents, are widely viewed by the Lebanese press as inspired by Syrian Islamist groups such as al Qaeda linked Jabhat a-Nusra and the Islamic State, which have engaged with the Lebanese army along the Syrian-Lebanese border.

The southwest Qalamoun mountains are now a Jabhat a-Nusra stronghold and point from which fighters infiltrate northern Lebanon.

In August, Nusra raided the Lebanese town Arsal at the foot of the Qalamoun Mountains, kidnapping several Lebanese army members and setting off a wave of anti-Syrian sentiment throughout the country.

Nusra once controlled towns and villages in the mountain range but were pushed out earlier this year by Hezbollah forces sent to reinforce the Syrian army.

The group conducts raids in Lebanon to put pressure on Hezbollah to leave Syria, saysMohammed Mo’ath, a 26-year-old activist embedded with Qalamoun fighters tells Syria Direct’s Osama Abu Zeid.

Q: Is it possible the battle will move into Lebanon?

There might be a raid against Hezbollah in Lebanon to put more pressure on it to leave Syria. However, the rebels are Syrians who want to liberate Syria, not Lebanon or other lands.

Q: Where are the rebels in Qalamoun concentrated now?

There aren’t any towns or villages under rebel control – they’ve taken to the mountains and caves on the Syrian side [of the border] as their sites.

Q: How do the rebels attack the regime and Hezbollah areas?

When the rebels retreated from the cities and villages of Qalamoun for the mountains at the beginning of April, they brought with them a large amount of ammunition. After they settled, they began attacking Hezbollah sites and taking ammunition from them.

Q: Why don’t the rebels capture the villages?

The rebels learned from previous experiences that controlling a town or a village doesn’t benefit them because the regime will attack the civilians [there]. Rebels changed their tactics to guerilla-style warfare, which causes Hezbollah losses.

Q: Which rebel groups are in Qalamoun?

Local battalions and some fighters from Homs, in addition to Jabhat a-Nusra.

Q: Is the Islamic State present in Qalamoun?

There are some IS fighters but, few. The Lebanese media make their numbers seem huge to create an illusion of their existence.

Hiiiiiiii 5th, hope your doing well and staying straighty one eighty.

Many little details like the history of abbasids and the confrontation of the mongols have been perverted. Also the notion of a “coup” to disrupt ali bin abu talibs (ra) deserving of power has been made up as shiism cracks started before that. Also the shiites today follow a different book then the adage shiites. Todays shiites are followers of an iranian jew named abdullah ibn siba.

Also it was not the “powerful” israeli army which brought out the hollowness of the UAR it was corruption within the ranks of the armies and bribery which the poms and americans played a major part in. Double crossing and contradicting deals were being spoken of.

Overall he does have the definition of what Caliphate means but thats the only truth on the page that caliphate means successor.
I really don’t think you should be taking history lessons off bbc 5th.

I get them where I can when I can from whoever translates well … and am often amused by the ‘thinking’ of the ancients too. :-))
Damn happy not to have been born in year 1000 or 1000BC either.

          As Example:
“The Abbasid caliphate lasted for half a millennium before coming to a brutal end in 1258. When Baghdad fell to the Mongols, the last of the city’s caliphs was rolled in a carpet and trampled to death under the hooves of Mongol horses – THIS WAS, bizarrely, a mark of respect, as the Mongols believed that people of rank should be killed without their blood being shed.”

That part was true, also the shiites cleared the way for the mongols to come into baghdad and slaughter the muslims.
Similar to the way they cleared the way for the ISIS dogs of hell fire to overrun iraq.
Similar to the way assad left them alone in raqqa to grow strong and released the most despicable from the jails.

            Does history repeat itself? HELLYEAH

I think the Nusrah front in Lebanon are fake and they have no connection with the Nusrah of Syria. This Lebanese Nusrah works for Hezbushaitan. This is my assumption so far by observing the Nusrah activity in Lebanon

Good observation. I can assure you the likes of mawlawi and al-masri do act in a manner the party of satan would like to see them act. They are known in beb al tebene as thugs if you type beb al tebene in youtube you can watch a documentary of how OCD these people are.

In the ma3orek they are usually the ones in the back saving there bullets an taking credit

No, they are Sunni and consider Hezbollah as apostates that must be killed.

Now you all decided Nusra is FSA… as Robert Ford the author
of a hundred Coups all over the World said, “remember our allies
in Syria “al Nusra moderate rebels”, they decapitated Christians in Maaloula because they refused to convert, but let bygones be bygones,
the West is smart Arabs are soooo stupid.

FSA IS FSA & NUSRA IS NUSRA & ISIS IS ISIS.
The man shooting canadians is a drug addict.
The christians in maaloula can protect themselves and don’t need more propergander about them.

          propergander??
FSA IS NUSRA AL QAEDA & ISIS
I said 3 were beheaded, you say “the Christians in Maaloula can defend themselves”. The Christians lived in peace they had no weapons because they were never invaded, the Syrian Army liberated Maaloula, and my friend, Christians were there since 2000 years uninterruptedly, even when Islam was born there was never this barbarity. Al Nusra kidnapped Nuns and two Bishops, looted ancient Christian artifacts to sell on the internet to buy weapons. fed up with your Medieval religious madness.

I’ve been saying this for the longest time. IS isn’t on Lebanon’s door, and it won’t be for any time soon.

  2. I am one of the leaders of the Nusra Front & we will continue these operations against the traitors of muslims (Sunnis) & the Syrian & Palestinian refugee peoples. We are serious & we want peace for our people, but not under the gun of oppression. Never will we bow to anyone but God Almighty. Our people won’t be ran over & taken as pawns for sectarian loyalty to genocidal tyrants, traitors, & enemies who have commited countless crimes against the people. We are serious to liberate our people & will not give up the fight to free Sham, the Levant & even Lebanon from the idolaters of rafidi apes & majoosi rats.

      Deluded ??
Lebanon is trying to be Lebanon. Don’t interrupt a process. Send the POW’s home.

      1. Process was first interrupted by Hezbollah intervening to help Assad forces, followed by certain elements & actions by the Lebanese army against refugees & Sunnis. So again, we will not back down. Captives will not be sent home. We will play it by ear, nothing is set in stone.

Well, if the people illegally carrying guns and shooting at a country’s army happen to be doing blatantly illegal things – and happen to be also of one ‘club’ residing in a city of many many people – but always putting that ‘Fear of Death’ into them each time they go to shop for bread, You can’t blame the Army OF A COUNTRY for doing it’s job. Tripoli is part of Lebanon. Really, it’s NOT supposed to be ‘Dry Gulch Wyoming’ in 1874. Or ‘The Alamo’.
And I completely understand the need to remove Assad, and that Hezzy saves his ass a lot … but putting THAT on the heads of women and children in little towns or cities is NOT the way to be ‘loved and appreciated’. Ya Know??
I’m sure you may have experienced the feeling ….

As if the Assad regime didn’t rape, massacre, and behead in Lebanon during our civil war….. Why are you only against it because it’s Nusra, but you support it one hundred percent when it’s Assad?

This is the most explicit and detailed and unambiguous statement to date of the Middle East strategy.

Stop seeking sympathy from Lebanon with your broken record, there’s no more Syria thanks to Jabotinsky.
