Top Iranian military trainer killed in north east Lebanon

hezbollah -iranian revolutionary guards flagsThe “Ahrar (Free) al-Sunna Baalbek Brigade” claimed on Friday the killing of an Iranian military trainer in the Bekaa region of north east Lebanon .

“We claim responsibility for a heroic operation that targeted a top Iranian military trainer on Thursday at a drill camp,” the brigade said on its Twitter account, noting that the operation’s name is “in the heart of the enemy.”

It added: “The attack was carried out at a Hezbollah controlled site in the Hermel plains (in the Bekaa).”

The operation created an atmosphere of panic and confusion among party members, the statement remarked.

“Hezbollah is trying to conceal what had happened.” The statement said

The group called on the party’s supporters to end the siege of “the innocent people of Arsal (town in the Bekaa)”.

It also warned of attacks and strikes against Hezbollah supporters in the Bekaa and around Lebanon.

The “Ahrar (Free) al-Sunna Baalbek Brigade” group which is reportedly aligned with the al Qaeda linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades had also claimed before the responsibility for killing Hassan Hassan Hawlo al-Laqqis on December 4, 2013 a top military commander of Hezbollah.

According to reports the Quds brigade of The Iranian Revolutionary Guards is training Shiites from Lebanese and Iraqi Hezbollah militant movement to go an fight in Syria alongside the forces loyal to the syrian dictator Bashar al Assad.

The lebanese Hezbollah militant group was reportedly formed by al Quds brigade in 1982.

Unfortunately for the country ever since Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah decided to help the Syrian regime in its fight against the mostly Sunni rebels, Al Qaeda linked groups have become increasingly active in Lebanon. Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut and the Beqaa witnessed several suicide bombings within the last few months resulting in scores of deaths and injuries
