Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt called on Monday in his a-Anbaa editorial for reevaluating and lowering the salaries of the MPs and consolidating the governmental buildings “in order to save the huge amounts of money spent on the fancy annual rental fees.”

He also called for assessing the controversial “security agreement with the U.S. and other countries to safeguard national security and Lebanese sovereignty.

The PSP leader called for a calm debate on this agreement in the Cabinet, away from “pointless” media uproar. He also said “it would be beneficial to seriously discuss the consolidation of security apparatuses in order to unify their efforts and activities, the thing the U.S. did after the September 11 attacks.”
