Lebanon’s Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said that the only solution for ending the crisis in Syria is by toppling the regim of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad whom he described as “schizophrenic.”
“There is no solution for the Syrian crisis other than by way of toppling the regime,” he stressed.
In remarks to Ash-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper published Thursday Jumblatt described Assad as schizophrenic:
“I think he is living in a different world when I listen to most of his speeches.”
The PSP leader continued: “This proves how he treats his people when he ignores that there are tens of thousands of dead and missing [Syrians] whom he describes as terrorists.”
Syria is witnessing a violent uprising against Assad’s regime, which has so far killed more than 70,000 people since its outbreak in March 2011, according to figures released by the United Nations.
