Geagea pushing for smaller districts in a new electoral law

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea revealed on Tuesday that he has been in contact with Hezbollah and AMAL leaderships over the adoption of small electoral districts in a new parliamentary electoral law , stressing it will be more just for the Lebanese people, according to a report by the Central News Agency CNA.

He told the CNA: “Contacts are underway with the Hezbollah and AMAL leaderships over the adoption of small districts.”

He also revealed: “The Lebanese Forces leadership will expand its contacts, within ten days, to include all parliamentary blocs in order to reach an agreement over an electoral law based on smaller districts.”

Once an agreement is reached over the new law, then it can be referred to parliament, he added.

“We are not trying to defy other powers, but we are simply attempting to provide the factors that will ensure the law’s success,” he explained.

Geagea accused FPM of trying to contradict what was agreed upon among the members of the Bkirki committee over a new electoral law

The patriarch was aware of such an attempt and thwarted it and the result was an agreement over small electoral districts, he stated.

Berri refers draft laws to parliament committees

Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday referred the draft electoral law, that was approved by the cabinet and the president , to the relevant parliamentary committees , National News Agency reported on Monday.

Berri also referred to the committees a draft electoral law submitted by Change and Reform bloc MP Neemtallah Abi Nasr and MP Alain Aoun . This is the so called “Greek Orthodox gathering proposal” which calls on each sect in Lebanon to vote only for its candidate in the elections based on proportional representation and one electoral district for the whole country .

Lebanon’s Cabinet approved earlier in August the electoral draft law that called for proportional representation and divided the country into 13 districts.

Lebanon was divided into the following electoral districts:

Beirut 2, south Lebanon 2, Bekaa 3, north Lebanon 3 , Mount Lebanon 3.

The new electoral law was approved by the majority of ministers. The ministers that represent Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt’s bloc voted against it.

      P.S. sitrida had an affair with the saoudi bilionaire hariri junior during his 11 year shortened jail period; well we understand her physiological needs however when we think that a candidate to miss Lebanon was excluded for the competition just because she wore a 70 000 US dollar Rolex watch offered to her by a quatari prince while sitrida was allowed to become MP just because of an affair with a saoudi bilionaire, a dangerous situation where many followers of this geagea maffia are being paid to pursue a saoudi arrierated policy in Lebanon and tolerate the muslum botherhood reign of the country giving a bad reputation to Lebanon: in the streets of Washington many people ask me about the camels in Lebanon

        I am no fan of Geagea, but don’t you think you are steeping a bit below sub human standards to bag his wife?? What has she done to you to deserve such abuse? Where is the proof that she slept around with the prince?? what is it your business anyway whether she has or hasn’t? How would you like it if someone went around and said something like that about your wife, mother or daughter? Do you feel like a big man having a go at a woman! Take it easy, there are a lot of other topics to discuss besides Strida!

          well when a simple citizen is refused to enter miss lebanon beauty contest just because of a rolex watch offered to her by a quatari prince while the wife of a criminal is allowed to sit in parliament despite being pregnant from a saoudi prince hariri junior then i think your thinking is subhuman not mine. if my mother or yours do the same i will certainly talk about them this way; i don’t know but you seem to have this common practise in your family and you seem to take it as a normal variant; in our family this is not usual practise. Further i always say i do not mind to go and be a gambler in the casino but a person representing the people is not allowed to do it; can you imagine the queen of england going to the casino every week? Princess Di was murdured just because she slept with a saoudi richie; just to refresh your memory

          ok boys back to the story….i think gagea knows that proportional representation is the way to go…however the biggest losers will be hariri and jumblatt….gagea is trying to find a way out for hariri…under this system i think gagea and gmayell will get more votes directly instead of waiting for harir to give them a couple of seats

          @AntiFSA:disqus I have also heard some things as well and it is not proven or documented. Haifa Wehbe as well, people talk about her but have no proof. If I was to hang around assads wife, does that make her a slut??! What pi$$ed me off is that I have met and had discussions with Strida and she is incredible, she is warm, charming and she gives the word woman its full value. Same with Haifa. I do not know what assads wife is like, and I myself have thrown a couple of words at her which I admit to only in response to someone else bagging Strida a while ago and they have no idea. So i take it back. Whatever they do in their personal life is their business. As for nayyash, if the queen doesn’t gamble it doesn’t mean she doesn’t masterbate. Each to their own.
