Lebanese Forces bloc MP Joseph Maalouf said on Wednesday that the power-generating ships that Energy Minister Gebran Bassil proposed to rent represented a deal which involved one of Bassil’s relatives.

“The deal of ships shows scandalous numbers, especially that one of the people involved in the deal is Bassil’s relative,” Maalouf told Free Lebanon radio.

The LF MP also said that the Change and Reform bloc ministers had “miserably failed” in their performance.

The issue of electricity has sparked a controversy, especially that Prime Minister Najib Mikati had reservations over Bassil’s proposal to rent power-generating ships.
