Nasrallah: Hezbollah spies did not damage the party

The leader of Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant Movement, has told several party officials that the uncovering of a pair of spies within his movement had not damaged the organisation, a Lebanese newspaper reported Thursday.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in June that two Hezbollah members have confessed to working for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a third was under interrogation.

The Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, which has close links with the Shiite movement, quoted Nasrallah as saying that despite the discovery of the spy network, ‘no major harm’ was done to Hezbollah because ‘the movement usually works under total secrecy.’

He accused Israel of turning to the US spy agency when it failed to infiltrate his party ranks.
