Khaled bin Ahmed al-Khalifa, Foreign Minister of the kingdom of Bahrain is holding the Lebanese government responsible for the remarks of Hezbollah and its chief Hassan Nasrallah against the kingdom’s rulers.
“The Lebanese government bears the responsibility for the insulting statements of its partner Hezbollah and its chief terrorist ,” the minister tweeted in reference to Nasrallah .
“Enough with the empty talk and void reassurances,” he added, addressing the Lebanese government.
This development comes after Hezbollah on Tuesday issued a statement warning the Bahraini government that any harm to influential Shiite spiritual leader Ayatollah Isa Qassim “will open the doors for unpredictable outcome and dangers.”
Hezbollah also condemned what it called “the brutal assault on unarmed civilians” outside Qassim’s home in the town of Diraz, where five people were killed and dozens others were arrested on Tuesday.
Witnesses told AFP that several civilians were wounded when police officers fired at demonstrators throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at security forces.
A total of 286 arrests were made, including “fugitives that had escaped from Jau Prison,” the interior ministry said.
Last March Bahrain revealed that it had arrested over a dozen individuals believed to have planted a bomb on a police bus and received training from Hezbollah and the government of Iran.
The arrests were made as reports suggested the administration of President Donald Trump is considering designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of the Iranian military, a terrorist organization.
Bahrain’s interior ministry issued a statement confirming the arrests of 14 individuals who “are suspected of receiving overseas military training under the supervision of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah ” according to the Associated Press. The men were arrested as part of a larger raid on a property that authorities claimed was stocked with weapons; police say the terror cell was planning assassinations.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah was formed by the Quds force, the International arm of Iran’s IRGC
