Geagea slams Hezbollah, FPM, urges Aoun, Hariri to issue the cabinet formation decree

geageaLebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea slammed Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement without naming them in connection with the latest cabinet formation setback.

“The core of the problem that we are currently witnessing is that one of the parties wants to practice authority which exceeds that allowed to it by the constitution, whereas other parties are trying to exploit the authority granted to them by the constitution, albeit indirectly, in order to achieve more gains,” Geagea said at an LF dinner, in an apparent reference to Hezbollah and the FPM.

“I don’t understand why those in charge of signing (the cabinet formation decree) — President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri — do not take the initiative of finalizing things, seeing as we can’t put the country and the fate of the economy and the Lebanese pound in peril for any reason,” the LF leader added.

“Let them send the  cabinet formation decree to the Parliament, where any opposing party can confront it and seek to oust the government there,” Geagea suggested.

He added: “Why don’t they deal with others the same way they dealt with the LF in terms of telling them, ‘This is what we can offer you and this is the government that we intend to form and those who have objections can express them in Parliament.’”
