Eight months after he entered Germany as a refugee from Homs, Syria, Muhannad is being praised as a hero by local police for his honesty. The $55,000 he found in a wardrobe that was donated to him to furnish his apartment could have helped him get his two younger brothers out of Syria and into a new life in Germany. But he tells Germany’s Bild newspaper that he couldn’t do that.”I am a Muslim. I’m not allowed to keep this money. My religion forbids it,” he said. “Allah would never allow me to finance my own interests with someone else’s wealth.”

Germany – Not all heroes wear capes. A Syrian refugee living in Germany was praised by the local police after committing an act of selflessness.

The Syrian man, referred to by the German newspaper Bild (German) as Muhannad M., had fled from the violent city of Homs and was living in an apartment in Minden, just west of Hanover. A wardrobe was donated to him, and as he was setting it up, Muhannad found a hidden pouch on the side of one of the shelves. In it, he found 50,000 euros ($55,24o) in cash, along with passbooks for bank accounts which would have 100,000 euros ($110,480).

Rather than keep the money, the man was insistent on turning it in to the police, even going so far as to check that the cash—which he found in 500-euro notes—was not counterfeit.

According to news site The Local, Muhannad cited his religious faith as one of the reasons why he could not keep the money. “I am a Muslim. I’m not allowed to keep this money. My religion forbids it,” he said. “Allah would never allow me to finance my own interests with someone else’s wealth.”

Police are working to locate the original owner of the money. The Local reports that Muhannad will receive a finder’s fee worth 3% of the money he turned in.

“This young man has acted in an exemplary way and deserves great respect,” said a police spokesperson, according to the Local. “It sometimes happens that smaller amounts of money are handed in. But this kind of money is the absolute exception.”

    How could he be an ‘expert’ on false € notes, when we who use them daily can sometime be deceived by false notes?
    Moreover, it does not belong to everyday life that I have a 500-euro banknotes in my wallet…..

            Correct, six million Jews were not exterminated. Hundred thousands died mainly of disease (typhus) and starvation. You seem to forget that no food could reach the work camps – thanks to Allies’ bombings. The ever changing and finally agreed upon “6 million” number was reminiscent of the very same “6 million” number that came up in Jewish propaganda in and outside Europe decades before WWII started. I have listed over a dozen example in a previous comment.

            Why is it illegal in many countries to question, investigate, negate/refute the Holocaust story? How convenient to make up one big, fat lie and make laws to prevent anyone from questioning it. Interestingly enough, the countries in question all happen to be British colonies – coincidence?

            You do realize that “semite” translates to: a member of any of a number of peoples of ancient southwestern Asia including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs.

            The official treaty that ended the war was the Treaty of Versailles, where representatives of all sides sat down at a conference table and wrote the treaty.

        I don’t have a problem with different races, I deal with many regularly, my problem is with the muslims and their incompatibility with the western world and the free speech that made it successful. The death count excels daily, mostly with said sects, killing each other mixed, with random acts of world-wide terror influenced by either rag-head governments or tribes.
            With majority rules. The vast majority of representative muslims are Sunni, therefor the various sunni practices of Islam are more widely accepted as representing Islam. Islam in general is blood-hungry as practiced by the many hate filled Islamic clerics and mullahs. The Shiites have Ashura, do you need a description of how that goes? Very barbaric blood dance. Just like stoning, excessive executions, or any of the many backwards practices are used by both sects of Islam, mostly in middle-eastern, parts of African, and some Asian countries.
            There is an inherent lack of humanity in Islamic practice in general and disregard for human life or maybe it is ME culture in particular. All this for some violent imaginary friend they talk to or is the excessive religion a cover for a dictatorship power-trip.
