Olympic Committee chief Antoine Chartier dies after he was hit by a car

Former Lebanese Olympic Committee president  Antoine Chartier (77)  succumbed to his injuries after he was hit by a car earlier on Monday.

Lebanon’s Olympic Committee issued a statement in which it said  : “Chartier set an example that made him a light that lit the path of Lebanese sport. ”

 

A Giant 

The US Embassy  Sports Club chief Asaad al Nakhl  offered to the Lebanese Olympic Committee his  “heartfelt condolences for  the death  of professor and educator and  great athlete Antoine Chartier ”

He pointed out that Chartier  was a friend of the  US Embassy Club, which  honored him  in 2006 .
He also offered his condolences to the relatives of the deceased, stressing that “the Lebanese sport has lost a giant and a cornerstone of its corners “

  1. What a major loss – I had the honor of meeting Antoine years ago. He is a rare breed in Lebanon, a man of integrity and class.

      Wonder if THAT car stopped. Not much info about the accident.

      1. He was hit by a Hummer. I heard from friends at the Mont La Salle that the lady, who was on the cell phone hit him while reverse driving. He passed away at the scene. The accident happened minutes after classes were over.

          Hit by a tank?? Great. One assumes there were charges.
