A mild earthquake shook the southern city of Tyre on Monday a day after a similar quake was felt in the northern city of Tripoli, the Bhannes Center for Seismic and Scientific Research said, according to a report by National News Agency (NNA).
The center told NNA that the residents of Tyre felt the quake that measured 3.5 on the Richter scale at 2:52 am .
The center stressed to NNA that the mild quake was similar to the one that northern Lebanon witnessed around noon Sunday.
The quake happened on the Srifa faultline, NNA said.
“There is nothing to worry about,” NNA quoted a spokesman as saying.
The Lebanese Geophysical Institute in Bhannis told Voice of Lebanon ( 100.5) radio station yesterday that the magnitude of the minor quake in Tripoli was 3.4 on the Richter scale
