LEBANON-UNREST-BLAST-TRIPOLIThe military examining magistrate Judge Fadi Sawan issued an arrest warrant against Syrian Army colonel Ahmed Amer accusing him of forming an armed gang to carry out terrorist activities in Lebanon.

The defected Syrian officer entered Lebanon as a Syrian refugee.

Th judge referred Amer to the military prosecution to take the appropriate action.

This development comes after the State Commissioner to the Military Court, Judge Saqr Saqr, charged 12 people, including a Lebanese and 2 Syrians who are in custody, with plotting terrorist activities and planning assassinations in Lebanon.

Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said in remarks published by Al-Mustaqbal newspaper on Thursday that some terror suspects entered Lebanon under the guise of Syrian refugees.

“Security concerns are growing… Security agencies are monitoring groups of suspects who had entered Lebanon as Syrian refugees but have enrolled in undertaking dangerous security and terrorist activities,” Charbel said.

The Syrian regime has been accused of being behind the recent bombings in Lebanon and specially the twin Tripoli bombings that targeted the two Sunni mosques; Al-Taqwa Mosque in the city’s Al-Zahiriya area and the Al-Salam Mosque in the Al-Mina neighborhood as worshipers were performing Friday prayers.
