Reuters reported that six protesters were killed in Hamah on Friday by gunfire from security forces

The city of Hama witnessed the largest massacre in Syria’s history . the Hama massacre occurred in February 1982, when the Syrian army, under the orders of the president of Syria Hafez al-Assad ( father of current president Bashar) , conducted a scorched earth policy against the town of Hama in order to quell a revolt by the Sunni Muslim community against the regime of al-Assad.

“We do not want to see another Hama massacre,” Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said late Sunday in a television interview, commenting on Assad’s failure to act immediately to make reforms.

“He says, ‘I will do it.’ But I am having a hard time understanding if he is being prevented from doing it or if he is hesitating,” Erdoğan said
