Powerful blast in Rosario Argentina kills 8, injures over 60

argentina blastA powerful blast in a residential building in the Argentine city of Rosario has killed at least eight people and injured more than 60 others.

Emergency teams are still trying to rescue people who remain trapped in the upper floors.

Rescue teams say there is a risk of the apartment block collapsing. Nearby buildings have also been affected.

The explosion was caused by a gas leak in the heating system, Rosario city mayor Monica Fein said.

“The whole front wing of the [10-storey] building collapsed with the impact,” Rosario Civil Defence Director Raul Rainone told the Clarin newspaper.

More than 50 apartments have been totally destroyed in two adjacent blocks.

Rescue personnel are digging through the rubble to try to find survivors.

‘Falling ceiling’

argentina blast 2Witnesses say the blast could be heard several kilometres away. The explosion happened just before 10:00 local time.

“I was in the bath when the explosion took place and the ceiling fell over my head. I have lost everything,” a fifth floor resident identified only as Evangelina told La Nacion newspaper.

She said the accident in the Salta street apartment block may well be linked to problems with the gas system.

      NIce! I knew somebody was going to accuse HA without a shred of evidence. The Israeli embassy was targeted in 1992 and AMIA (Israeli community center) in 1994. So, if they came back to finish the job wouldn’t they have to target something Israel (or Jewish) related? Was this residential building in a Jewish neighborhood? Is the mayor lying about the gas leak or do you know something he is not telling us?

          Ok, so you are going to avoid the previous questions posed to you, because you know you were talking nonsense. The video you posted is a woman that claims she witnessed non-Arab speaking men slaughtering kids through a peep hole. Its a start, but by no means evidence. Also, why is the video edited? Where is the full clip of what she said?

          Its strange that she goes from describing the slaughtering and ends with tied up naked girls being raped.

          I just want to point out that I’m not defending HA or Assad, War is terrible and a civil war is even worse. Especially when religion is feeding the flames. All sides are guilty of committing atrocities.
