Top cleric urges Sunnis to join Syria rebels

Share:

QaradawiThe influential Doha based Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi has called on Sunni Muslims to join the rebels fighting the Syrian regime, as he lashed out at Shiite group Hezbollah for sending its men to fight the mostly-Sunni insurgents in Syria.

Qaradawi, a controversial figure in the West but who has millions of supporters, mostly from the Muslim Brotherhood, also hit out at Iran for backing the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

“Every Muslim trained to fight and capable of doing that (must) make himself available” to support the Syrian rebels, the cleric said at a rally in Doha late Friday.

“Iran is pushing forward arms and men (to back the Syrian regime), so why do we stand idle?” he said, branding Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which means the party of God in Arabic, as the “party of Satan”.

Hezbollah, a close ally of Iran and the Syrian regime, is openly engaged in the fight against the rebels in Syria. It has also fought for years against Israel, arch rival of Iran and Syria.

“The leader of the party of the Satan comes to fight the Sunnis… Now we know what the Iranians want… They want continued massacres to kill Sunnis,” Qaradawi said.

“How could 100 million Shiites (worldwide) defeat 1.7 billion (Sunnis)?” he exclaimed, “only because (Sunni) Muslims are weak”.

The cleric blamed himself for previously backing Hezbollah and its leader Hassan Nasrallah who gained popularity after steadfastly leading his group in the fight against Israel in 2006.

“I defended the so-called Nasrallah and his party, the party of tyranny… in front of clerics in Saudi Arabia,” which is wary of neighbouring Shiite Iran and its allies.

“It seems that the clerics of Saudi Arabia were more mature than me,” Qaradawi said.

But the cleric insisted that his call to fight Hezbollah is “not against all Shiites”.

Fighters of Hezbollah are engaged in fierce battles against the rebels to capture the Syrian town of Qusayr near the Lebanese borders.

The militant group has already lost dozens of its men in the battle for Qusayr.

Qaradawi hosts a popular show on Al-Jazeera satellite television and has backed the Arab Spring uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Syria.

If you’re Sunni you can go fight in Syria. Are Sunni fighters considered foreign fighters? Or are you only foreign if you’re fighting alongside Assad? The Syrian war seems to be taking time away from his busy schedule of raping little girls to prove their not virgins and wife beating (only lightly).

The concept of foreign fighters were invented by the occupation force in Iraq and in Afghanistan and all of them were in fact foreign fighters from USA Europe and other country and the number of countries attacked Afghanistan was more than 67!! Beside the local Afghans few mujaheddin might travelled to Afghanistan and they were called foreign fighters. Here in Syria Bashar Al-Qaeda is backed by foreign fighters ! they are from Lebanon,Iran Russia etc. A Russian Military base is situated in Syria. But again here we have foreign fighters on the other side! Is there any rule in the world that you cant have foreign fighters? Is it like the FIFA world cup football that you need to check the nationality of every player? We know Iranian Lebanese are foreign fighters along with the Russian Military Advisers and it is very likely that soon Russian solders will be deployed. Do you think the Mujaheddin will cry out foreign fighters !! foreign fighters? This is a war propaganda by Assad in order to cover up his foreign backed butt. So stop nagging and fight hard ,Look at the weapon quality of Assad and his gang.

What? I was just trying to point out the hypocrisy of the western backed fight against Assad. All we have been hearing the past couple of weeks is crying about foreign fighters (i.e. Hezbos) from the western countries, gulf countries, and the FSA. While at the same time ignoring the influx of sunni jihadists from all over the globe and even assisting in their transfer to Syria. I like ” Syria Bashar Al-Qaeda”, thats funny stuff. There is proof of rebel groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda fighting in Syria against Assad!

1.bashar wants syria to become a resistance country
2.hezballah fighters cries to protect qusayrs shias (note. They are now in damascus fighting alongside the army. Also hezblshayton only calls for protecting shia)
3.FSA (are a syrian party against foreign fighters from either side) they ask hezballah to leave and not turn syria into a bigger warzone and leave syrias problems for the syrians.(FSA are against foreign fighters other brigades are much more sophistacated in arms and ammo then they are themself and was noted condeming JAN.)
4.hezballah and iranian backed fighters who are supposedly protecting shias in qusayr are now in damascus and other rural areas(maybe turning syria into a so called resistance i presum) with the help of rockets proudley produced by russia.
5.hezballah went from fighting for the shias out of nowhere BOOM they changed that front and all of a sudden are fighting for lebanon.
6.lebanon has a capable working army already fighting for lebanon(they added more taqiya and consipiracies to their motives and caused confusion to achieve there objective) they did not command hezballah to fight in syria for lebanon hence breaking the laws of lebanon. They call this terrorism. (Holding a gun in syria, shooting of that gun in syria taking sides in a civil war)
7.they have also called on the chapter of hezblshayton to join this war(i dont see why iraq is helping lebanon)
          8. The sunni majority have been oppressed and been locked up and or robbed under the resistance tyrany with the help of assad, being killed or locked up for fighting to protect his rights and his families rights
I cant say all have done so according to the law as there are still alot of unanswered questions like attacks on the army. This can be either side and ill tell you what have sent the army jumping hoolahoops to get what they want. (Haha rental cars :P)
i will not go into details about the christians in qusayr and who has caused chaos to the small communities you can do your own research as my objective is not to win popularity on this blog only to seek truth justice and proper understanding of subjects. i can tell you my oponion though, they (christians and jews) are ahlul kitaab to protect them when it is practicle. Other minorities also need to be engaged and given a proper understanding of what is happening in syria and why they are being targeted for no reason.

No worries come everyday :-). It doesnt take a genius to decide when its practical,so long as they are not hostile or poseing grave danger(beyond a reasonable doubt) i.e. pointing a gat to your head. Rasool (saw) neighbour was jewish he would throw rubbish on the rasool peace be upon him front door everyday for a few years and he (rasool peace be on him) wouldnt speak a word he would pick it up and throw it in the bin. One day the rasool (peace be on him) found that the man didnt throw rubbish so he got really worried. He rushed to the jews house to make sure he was okay and it turns out the jew was sick. When the jew had realised that mohommed (peace be on him) was there just to see that the man was alright and that if he needed anything and wasnt there provocativley. Guess what?? The jew took his shahada on the SPOT!! And he allahs apostile(peace be on him) is our example.

Ok, the prophet (PBUH) was a good man. What’s your point? This is what you said ” i can tell you my oponion though, they (Christians and Jews) are ahlul kitaab to protect them when it is practicle”. I don’t really understand where this fit into the discussion. So, who are you protecting them from? The sunni jihadist fighters that are trying to overthrow Assad? When its ” practical” in my opinion is pretty subjective. I can guarantee that the behavior of the extremist Muslims around the world are not going to convert anyone and are actually doing a disservice to their fellow Muslims.

You should use She5 google, you would be surprised by the wealth of information. Why should I believe in your “90,000” dead stat? What search engine did you use and did you spend as much time as I did (2-3 minutes)? Also, I’m still confused by your statement regarding “protecting the Christians and Jews when practical”. Are you saying that the Christians were warned of the impending invasion and the Sunni residents were not? I’m not sure how accurate this was, but I remember hearing that the Syrian military sent warnings to the villagers to evacuate before the shelling started.

I’m hoping that the military will cease operations to allow for evacuation of women, children, and elderly. There are ongoing efforts to get this done. The guy is not ignorant rather its you who is. If some one go to fight then what is your problem? Remember 911 attack ? Although it was a false flag operation but the occupation forces gathered more than 67 countries and attacked Afghanistan and then Iraq. Did you see Saddam was bombing Iraq as bashar is doing? there were lies manufactured against him to invade the country. Were you bothered to see the shock and Awe bombing? Or did you think those solders from all over the world are fool and ignorant. Syrian war is going to be much bigger and you may take aside and avoid the conflict but this tribulation is on the sunnis ,they Shias can withdraw any time they want but if they dont then what other way do you propose? To get another slap after the one? The sunni approach is if some one slap you then you give a hard kick up in to his Butt. But if he feel sorry for slapping you then you may forgive him. But turning the other cheek for a slap is promoting the crime and you make the criminal think his action was good. Well this slap theory was attributed on Jesus(peace be upon him) but we do not believe he ever said such thing. Well now a days we have a new doctrine ,That is Slap on your own cheek and blame someone for it and attack such as 911 self inflicted wound.

      1. any credibility you have went out the window on the conspiracy theory for 911

he is criticizing hizballah for sending its fighters to syria while he is calling for sunnis from all over the world to go fight in syria??? i am not a fan of hizballah but at least they are syria neighbors right from next door and have a lot to lose if the rebels win . what does a sunni from Bangladesh have to lose if the al assad wins ?

His criticize is legitimate because the majority sunnis do not welcome the Persian thugs to come in and boss around. You wont understand this Lebanon because you are used to get screwed by Persia and you like it. You have failed to stand up against this thugs and now its too much to handle. Look at your government. The sunnis were suppressed and now they have taken up arms. Do you see any sign of their backing down? This struggle will continue until the persian thugs and their lackey is out. Now its clear that Iran is sending more solders to take total control of Syria ,killing the sunnis therefore it is normal to ask for support. There is no benefit telling Iran and Russia not to intervene. They will do it therefore the sunnis need to resist. They wont follow your mentality.

The cleric himself given up as well accepting his less knowledge & wisdom by declaring Saudi cleric better then him, so stance of fighting hizbullah is baseless. first of all the cleric be asked to send his son or he already did it before this statement to fight, im sure his family enjoying. He just given upstatement so as to derailed Muslims and himself enjoy edible being provided by his masters.

That anyone wants to send sons or daughters to their death is as ludicrous as it is illogical.
If I had had to tell my children that they were ‘born to die’, I’d have shot myself first.
But if I believed that BEFORE having them, then I wouldn’t have.
