New TV reported on Sunday that the Lebanese army arrested earlier in the day 39 “armed Syrians” along the border in the Qaa area
The report added that a truck loaded with weapons that was attempting to cross from Syria into northern Lebanon was also seized .
Thousands of Syrians have fled the unrest in their country since the beginning of protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in mid-March 2011.
The Syrian regime has repeatedly blamed “armed terrorist groups” for the unrest and said weapons were being smuggled to Syria through Lebanon.
