Gemayel reject the link between security in Lebanon and Syria

Former Lebanese president and current Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel reject the link between security in Lebanon and Syria .

” Claims that Lebanon’s security is linked to Syria’s “need to be rectified because it is unacceptable that absence of security in Syria would imply [the same thing in Lebanon].” Gemayel said following a meeting at Dar al-Fatwa with the mufti of Tripoli and the north, Sheikh Malek Shaar.

He stressed that the Lebanese should show unity in order to stop the Syrian conflict from affecting Lebanon’s stability.

Some are saying that ‘Lebanon’s security is Syria’s security.’ But I will add to this saying, and say we should definitely not allow the lack of security in Syria to lead to a lack of security in Lebanon.”

Commenting on the crisis in Syria, Gemayel said: “We cannot but sympathize and stand in solidarity with the Syrian people, who are calling for freedom and democracy.”

Commenting on his alliance with March 14 he said on Thursday that his party “takes pride in its alliance with former PM Saad Hariri.”

“[The alliance] preserves the higher Lebanese interests and [the country’s] sovereignty and democratic system,” the Phalange party leader was quoted as saying.

Gemayel also delivered a message to residents of Tripoli in North Lebanon calling on them to join efforts in support of “Lebanon and the Lebanese state in order to get rid of all statelets and security, political and social islands.”

    Where are the Lebanese who tasted the Syrian shelling? Or I should say who hasn’t tasted the Syrian shelling? We have to sympathize with those being shelled now, and have to take action. This neutral position Mikati is taking is unacceptable.

    A security link between Leb and Syria is only in ‘A Pig’s Eye’, a pig whose name starts with “N”, a very nasty “N”.

    In reality he has a point but Lebanon is not a realistic country and anything can happen. I would expect some more clashes in the North and maybe even Arsal and wadi Khalid if they dont get security from the Army and the Syrian Army keeps provoking them. I dont think its in HA best interest to have massive clashes as long as they are in power. If Jumblat leaves the March 8 camp and returns to the March 14 camp then we will have some problems but as long as HA is in power its not in HA best interest even when Assad falls.

    when the west  send arms to syrian oppossition they will gain ground against the regeme , once that happen they want to return the favor to there sunnis brothers in lebanon , so the weapons start flowing backward from syrian opposition groups to there sunnis brothers in tripoli and in turn they want to revange from the alawite and shiite in tripoli, and sunni shia,s war in lebanon will break out and the lebaneese army will not intervene because ,this sunnis shia,s war will be all over lebanon , and the lebaneese army could,nt take side so they will stay neutal

    how come this scum goverment of farisilebanon stated that we have nothing to do with syria situation and then nasarhytan telling the free lebanese if syrian assad goverment falls lebanon will fall into war and Kayous
    then we understand that nasarshytan threatning the lebanese poeple of paying the price of the freedom in syria.
     again and again and again threats!!
    for how much long lebanese people keep on taking his threats. perhaps when our  politicians finish skiing and start revolting:(
