Fifth Tibetan monk sets himself on fire

Share:

A monk set himself on fire to protest China’s tight grip over Buddhist practices in Tibet, the activist group Free Tibet said Monday. The London-based group said the monk, Kalsang, age 17 or 18, is from the Kirti monastery in western Sichuan near the Tibetan border. The group, which calls for self-determination for Tibet, said it is the fifth such self-immolation this year. The monk’s condition was unclear.
