Syrian security forces have killed 17 people in Homs, activists said. According to them, the army shot dead 17 people in the city, injuring another 20.

Rights activist Rami Abdel Rahman of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP troops were conducting a massive operation in the northwestern town of Sermin, where a woman was killed.

Blasts and heavy gunfire also echoed in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor and locals were fearing a new military attack in the city where the army killed 42 people on Sunday and 17 on Tuesday, conveyed Abdel Rahman.

Meanwhile, President Bashar Assad was said to have admitted his security forces had made “some mistakes” in battling protests, as he met with several UN Security Council members in Damascus. The deputy foreign ministers from Brazil, India and South Africa met Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem to call for an “immediate end to all violence” in Syria, a statement said.

Assad “acknowledged that some mistakes had been made by the security forces in the initial stages of the unrest and that efforts were underway to prevent their recurrence,” said the statement issued by India’s UN mission.

      Back-pedaling begins?
‘Oh, come on guys. Don’t be so nasty with me. So I made a couple of mistakes … I was only trying to clear those up with a little clean-up crew. And the ones locked in prisons and football stadiums are simply being protected from the violence and the really bad foreigners.’

I don’t think killing over 2000 protesters is a mistake it is a deliberate and intended act by the Syrian regime to subdue the protesters. Bashar you’re lying through your teeth. Nothing is going to save you. You’re going down in history as a villain an evil man who butchered his own people to maintain his grip on power. Your going to make Hitler and Stalin look like good guys in comparison. You can pretend all you want that you are the legitimate ruler of Syria but at the end of the day you’re nothing but a lowly criminal rat dressed in a suit. The people will get their revenge and I sense it will be soon. You and your henchmen will be slaughtered like lamb and your heads will be stuck on the lances of the brave protesters who will dislodge and paraded though the streets of the towns you are so intent on crushing. Your fate will be so sever that the next Bashar wants to be is going to tremble. No leader has ever taken on his people and emerged victorious what makes you think you have a chance. Mistakes or no mistakes your going to be mince.
