Kidnappers of 7 Estonians identified, demands to follow

Lebanon Files, an Arabic news website reported receiving an electronic message from an organization called the movement of Renaissance and Reform ” ( Haraket al-Nahda wa al-Islah) in which it confirms its responsibility for the kidnapping of the seven Estonians. The statement said they are all in good condition. The movement said it will announce its demands later.

The message included picture IDs of 3 of the of the hostages.

“We received an electronic message late yesterday and we informed the proper authorities,” said Rabih Haber, head of Lebanon Files website. “The authorities gave us permission to publish the message.”

“I don’t want to speculate, since first we must know what their demands are and the reasons behind the kidnapping,” Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said Thursday evening when asked whether his country would meet potential demands issued by the Renaissance and Reform group

Estonian authorities are cooperating with the Lebanese Interior Ministry and Internal Security Forces to “gather information in order to free the seven Estonian citizens,” he told LBC television.

Seven Estonians were kidnapped near the Bekaa city of Zahle last Wednesday after they had entered Lebanon from Syria on their bikes.
