Egyptian prosecutors have ordered the arrest of a former ruling party official and three ministers from deposed strongman Hosni Mubarak’s government, including its onetime interior minister, the state news agency MENA announced Thursday.
No details of the allegations prosecutors have leveled against the former officials were immediately available.
The Interior Ministry, which controlled Egypt’s police and paramilitary security forces, was a particular target of the demonstrators who forced Mubarak from office last week.
The prosecutor-general’s arrest order includes ex-Interior Minister Habib Al-Adli; Ahmed Izz, the former secretary for organizational affairs of the National Democratic Party; former Housing Minister Ahmed Maghrabi; and former Tourism Minister Zuhair Garana. CNN
