Hezbollah, Amal gatherings prompt schools in Beirut to close

Hezbollah and Amal Movement supporters gathered in the streets of downtown Beirut early Tuesday prompting several schools in Beirut to close as nervous parents pulled their children from class.

Al-Arabia TV reported that hundreds of unarmed Hezbuollah and Amal Movement members gathered in downtown Beirut around 7 am local time . Most of the concentration was in the areas of Basta, Beshara Khoury, Nweiri, Ras el-Nabeh, Tayounneh and Zoqaq Blat.

They were reportedly dressed in black and carrying hand-held radios.

Lebanese security officials confirmed the gatherings, which dispersed by late morning and appeared to be a show of force to coincide with the videotaped statement by Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare about the about the indictment’s filing.

Hezbollah denied any knowledge about the gathering. Ghaleb Abu Zeinab, a member of Hezbollah’s political bureau, said he is not aware of such gatherings.

“I cannot comment,” he said.

According to Voice of Lebanon Speaker Nabih Berri , who heads the Amal Movement interfered to contain the situation .

According to sources of Lebanon Files the gathering was intended as a manoever aimed at preparing for a major protest in the future … similar to what the Hezbollah led opposition supporters did between 2006 and 2008when they occupied downtown Beirut and tried to bring down the government

Bellemare submitted the court’s draft indictment for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri to STL Pre-trial Judge Daniel Fransen on Monday at 4:35 p.m. local time.

The indictment was sealed and its contents will likely not become public for weeks.

Even though no one knows until this very moment the contents of the indictments the Iranian and Syrian backed Hezbollah has said it expects the indictments to be against members of its group.

Hariri was assassinated with 22 others on February 14, 2005 when a massive explosion struck his motorcade in a fashionable seafront district of Beirut, sending tremors through a country still haunted by memories of its 1975-1990 civil war..

    Hezbollah denied any knowledge of the gatherings of their loose animals. Then who let the dogs out?
    As usual Hezbollah is lying thru their teeth in trying to show intimidations by their large numbers.
    First they’re not armed but then they will send them armed the next time the STL issues their indictment.
    Anyone wants us to believe these assholes are there for peaceful purposes or Hezbollah is only to fight Israel is very naive.
    They’re no different than Al Qaada and other extremist organizations who only looking to empower themselves and take control of lebanon.

          Hope you do not mind me interfeering, but religious abuse was completely uncalled for. There was absolutely no need to go that far. In all the sects in Lebanon, there are clean and there are scum including Xtians. Plus pleasure marriages as you have called it, is not practised or beleived by the majority of the Shiites.
          Also, how can you accuse Hannibal of belonging to SSNP, he belongs to the same party as I do. The Outlawed Party (TOP).lol

          So you are repeating what I have been saying all along but I am politically correct. 😉
          I have Moslem friends who are like myself areligious (that does not make us atheists). To collectively say that the moslems are to blame is unjust because the majority of them are really pacifist. They refuse to fight or kill. However thugs rule the street. Remember that the Aounist are Christians who had it with the excesses of the Lebanese Forces when they ruled the streets and even Bashir used to yell at them because they were unruly. That does not betray any cause nor any political views nor advocate one. All what I want is that the sons and daughters of modern Lebanon work for Lebanon and not for their religion.
          As far as your comments about the Phoenicians you are totally wrong. Despite what you read in the histories and your small wrong treaties you are very wrong on this subject. That is a different topic altogether and whatever your trade is you should stick to it and leave the history to me as I have been doing it and research it for decades.
          Remember though this fact. AND that is a freebie, so I won’t charge you… lol … The victors wrote the histories. The Phoenicians loved their freedom and like all other nations during those times (including the Greeks) they operated as city states and they had rivalries. However, they had one religion (with many Gods) so that was not the issue of their conflicts. They bickered but never killed each others. They existed for more than 2000 years and for you to sum it up in two sentences written by Herodotus or the stupid lying Bible I think you are being overly unfair to a people that brought a lot to humanity. Be proud! Pride is probably the only thing that the Lebanese share with each others, sadly!

          You are absolutely right. SSNPs believe in the histories of the entire Levant as being one. They are proud of their heritage and of their history. I like the idea of a unified Levant but not under a Syrian flag, therefore I am not SSNP. I think unity of all those lands IF federated like the U.S. into states might solve a lot of our problems. Communities will have the freedom they need yet the monetary system and commerce and the federated army will be one and strong one I must add. However, that is a long shot as I do not believe we as a nation are ready for such a leap, therefore I am not SSNP. You still don’t get it though, not only the party I belong to is forbidden in Lebanon, but here is another hint, our leader is in exile, alive and well. Keep guessing guss…
          On another note, although I am anti-religion I really do not believe that desecrating the religion of others is appropriate. In the free world we have freedom of religion but the law of man rules first. So marrying more than one is forbidden in the West. That is Law but do not forget that adultery is so rampant and HPV, herpes, and Hepatitis and AIDS are too in those communities, an indication of how much behind doors is going on.
          As far as Christianity is concerned, Jesus said it is not only adultery to commit the act but to even look at a woman of another and want her in your head is adultery as well. What he meant here was STOP judging.

          am not here to really discuss religion , just from politcal point we cant have a party that think God is fighting and woking with them rule Lebanon Lebanon will cease to exist , I could care less if pleasure mariage or not , from econmical side bringin 10 kids or 18 is really a big issue if you are in USA or Europe so immagine in a small country like Lebanon. Once Hizbollah rule it will not matter anymore. There is no way the Christian and the Sunni such dictatorship and religious MUllah state ,that is not Iran,Not in this century, Nasrallah is hallucinating , go the Lebanese mountains and especially the north and see how the Christian monks made caves in the mountains and lived thee and flatenned the hills and planted them to avoid the opression , there is no way that we will allow the force of darkness to rule us, between death and Nasrallah we welcome death . Lebanon exist by no one imposing its religion on the other , Nasrallah as you see wipe his ass everyday with the cosntitution or he use it when it suit him to topple the governement,he’s waiting to declare Wilayat al fakih and Hopefully we will manage to Fakih out to Iran ASAP

    Well Hannibal another great achievement of the Phoenicians is stripping the mountains of their trees mainly the Cedars and exporting it, I believe if you visited Lebanon lately you could see that we mainly killed all remaining green forest ,we are the true descendant no doubt!!!
